As to the "it's only a cat" gang, there is not a great deal of difference between the level of awareness and intelligence of a cat and a 6 month old baby. So, watch out next time your baby cries.

Last week when I was speeding along i-275 and this poor gecko climbed up my windshield. He/she was clinging on for dear life as the wind buffeted him/her. I slowed, but alas it was too late. The little lizard flew off the windshield. I pray that the poor creature didn't land in the roadway but perhaps in the median.

It looks like I had my bag searched at San Diego yesterday, for Airtran Flight 614. My problem is that they didn't put the TSA approved padlock back on when they were finished. The unzipped toiletries bag with all the contents spilled I can live with, but it would be good to have the lock back. This may not be practical but you can send me the money to buy a new one. I know it wasn't cut off because it has never been a problem for the last 4 years.

another reason for preferring the term rationalist to humanist, is that humans are not the only reservoir of reason. Even my cats may have some limited capacity for reasoning, and some of the other primates almost certainly.
